Give Your Marketing Strategy a Vacation - Don't Forget the Flip Flops!

Flip flop weather is on its way, so it's time to get prepared and stock up for the summer. Cool, comfortable, and convenient - most people can't resist promotional flip flops. They're perfect for people who have an aversion to shoes, and for those individuals who despise the feeling of the thong between their toes, there are options that feature one wide strap across the top of the foot. Furthermore, flip flops customized with a brand's logo or business name can travel far and wide - extending marketing messages the entire way.

Flip flops have been around essentially since 4000 BC in Ancient Egypt, though it is highly unlikely that the Ancient Egyptians were familiar with that particular name. Their attraction is in their simplicity. Easily slipped on or off, they protect your feet from the ground, while at the same time providing the feeling of going shoeless.

Originally, the modern flip flop was considered to be only casual footwear, something to be worn at the beach or the pool, or perhaps a suspicious shower room. They were made of cheap rubber and would not last long under heavy use. Flip flops later became sturdier, but the loose and free feeling remained. And, for the more active people who want the freedom of flip flops without the loose construction, there are sandals such as Chacos that provide much better support but maintain the open-air feeling around your feet.

In the past two decades, however, flip flops have been made by some shoe companies as a "nice shoe," proper footwear for almost any occasion. The most popular was the Rainbow, a flip flop that was said to be more comfortable than any other and would conform to the wearer's foot shape over a short amount of time. Perhaps somewhat ironically, considering the conventional use of the flip flop as a water shoe, Rainbows were not designed to get wet.

No matter what type of flip flop one is wearing, the fact that they have become intensely popular and accepted in most social settings is a sign that this particular footwear is here to stay. Almost everyone has a pair of flip flops somewhere and is usually happy to have another pair. Customizing flip flops with a company's brand name or logo is a sure way to make sure the logo is seen. This is one promotional product that will always be used when the weather is right.
